Doctors belonging to professional football clubs and provincial associations, owners of stadiums of the Ecuadorian Football Championship first division, gathered Tuesday in the auditorium of the Ecuadorian Football Federation to be participants in the national course for the proper use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation equipment, taught by Dr. Enrique Bologna, a specialist in the field.
Normally the team doctors are used to treat all types of injuries that occur on the field, whether routine or more grave, but it is not very common to be addressing a cardiac event on the playing field. Therefore, for many of the conference attendees, the workshop served to remind them of how to perform CPR and the proper use of the defibrillator.
The FIFA Medical Commission made the donation of the defibrillation equipment through CONMEBOL. The clubs will begin to use the equipment from the start of the 2016 National Championship in each and every one of the stadiums of Ecuador.
This course was attended by the medical teams of the following clubs: Barcelona, Emelec, River Ecuador, Deportivo Cuenca, Delfín, Gualaceo, Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Portoviejo, Manta, Colón, Fuerza Amarilla and Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Loja.
