The mythical Centenario stadium, a "Historical Monument of Football", will host the first three games of the hexagonal final.
It was inaugurated on July 18, 1930 and became the host of the world's first history World Cup, whose champion was the Uruguayan national team. It has capacity for 60,000 spectators. Below the tower of the stadium's homage, and above the Olympic Tribune, operates the Football Museum as well as a tourist outlook.
It is located in the heart of Parque Batlle, known as the lungs of the city for its 60 hectares in which you can find native and exotic trees with lots of monuments and sports facilities.
Tower of tributes
Located on the center of the Olympic Tribune, a hundred feet high, the Tower of Homage, a symbol that honors the Olympic champions of 1924 and 1928 rises.
Monument of world football
On July 18, 1983 the stadium was declared by FIFA a "World Cup Historic Monument", the only building of this kind that holds that title in the world.
The Centenario Stadium hosted, among other tournaments, the 1930 FIFA World Cup, the South American Championship 1942, 1956, and in 1967, as well as the Copa America Tournament in 1980 and 1995, all won by Uruguay.
Currently, Uruguay's national team plays their home games at this location.
