Jarlan Barrera scored a penalty for Colombia in the 50th minute, while Lucio Compagnucci scored two minutes from time.
Colombian striker Rafael Borré got close in the14th minute but his shot went just wide.
Argentina sought a more vertical play with long balls to try to release their strikers up front, Giovanni Simeone and Angel Correa, but to no avail.
At the beginning of the second half the Albiceleste defense were called on a penalty and Barrera, Atlético Junior midfielder, showed his class by scoring from the spot.
The goal awoke Argentina who had two clear chances to equalize, first with a header by Emanuel Mammama which went over the crossbar and later with a shot from Simeone (top scorer of the tournament with 6 goals) that went wide.
Nervous and wild on defense, Argentina facilitated the game for Colombia. At 68 minutes Barrera took a shot from outside the box which forced a great save from keeper Augusto Batalla.
But Argentina's will was stronger than Colombia's, who missed several opportunities, and with a cross from the left scored the equalizer.
