The Argentine-Bolivian coach Gustavo Quinteros will lead Ecuador, according to the Ecuadorian press

Argentine-Bolivian Gustavo Quinteros will lead Ecuador at the 2015 Copa America replacing Colombian Reinaldo Rueda after a poor showing at the World Cup, reported local media on Thursday.

Argentine-Bolivian Gustavo Quinteros will lead Ecuador at the 2015 Copa America, reported local media on Thursday.

Quinteros, current coach of Emelec, came to an agreement with the president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), Luis Chiriboga, said the newspaper El Comercio.

The newspaper, citing an official of the club who was not identified, said the hiring of Quinteros will be formalized next Tuesday when the executive committee of the FEF meets.

Quinteros has an agreement with Chiriboga, said in turn the newspaper El Universo.

Chiriboga admitted he had talks with Quinteros, without confirming the result. "We resumed negotiations and on Tuesday will review it," said the officer to El Comercio.

Meanwhile, Quinteros, 49, who coached Bolivia between 2010 and 2012, told reporters that "there is always that possibility" of being the helmsman of Ecuador.

He added that his relationship with Emelec includes an "agreement" that "if there is an opportunity with the selection (of Ecuador) at some point there is no problem."

On Tuesday, Chiriboga announced that Ecuadorian Sixto Vizuete, who was responsible for directing the tricolor after the World Cup, was not re-signed.

"After analyzing what happened at the Under-20 Sudamericano Championship with the tricolor, it was decided to find a new coach," said the FEF then.

In the next Copa America, Ecuador will be in Group A with Chile, Mexico and Bolivia.

Chile and Ecuador start the ball rolling on June 11 at the Nacional Stadium in Santiago.

Last week, Chiriboga, president of the FEF since 1998, was re-elected for the fourth consecutive time for a period of four years.
