The game started with a frenzy but soon calmed down to the point that a goalless draw seemed to be what the teams would take into halftime but one minute into stoppage time Bruno, goalkeeper and captain of Brazil, committed a penalty that Colombian striker Edward Bolaños converted.
In the second half Brazilian Leandro got the equalizer for Brazil in the 50th minute. At the 66 minute mark Evandor, after a beautiful setup by Leandro, made it 2-1. Just seven minutes later Andrey would add to the lead.
Colombia didn't hang their heads and just two minutes later Ariza scored. In the 94th minute of stoppage time Colombia could have tied it but the ball was cleared off the line by a Brazilian defender.
Thus Group A began with a wealth of goals, 10 in two games. Paraguay and Brazil lead with four rounds yet remaining.
