Angelina Alonso was the author of the only goal in the match between Brazil and Paraguay at the Women's U-17 Sudamericano held in Venezuela. The eleven players, the coaching staff and the substitutes on the bench celebrated until they cried. And it was no wonder. Brazil had just taken three important points against the difficult Paraguayan national team. "The goal made me feel awesome. It was very important," said an excited Angelina to CONMEBOL.com.
The Brazilians are a two-time champion in this tournament, but the last edition (2013) is a bad memory for the 'Canarinha' who were knocked out in the group stage. Thus for Brazil this match was considered crucial.
Angelina is 16 years old and wears the number 5 on the back of her jersey. "This is my first Sudamericano and I'm living a dream because I didn't think I was going to be called to the team. I am very happy to be here in the tournament. Also to wear the Brazilian shirt and represent my country is special," she says.
When Alonso is asked what sets her team apart from the rest she does not waver: our technique. That is ours.
In the next game Brazil will face Colombia. "We have to go game by game, focus on ourselves and be very united above all," concludes Angelina.
