Paraguay and Brazil drew 2-2 Tuesday in the sixth round of South American qualifying. The match was played at the Defensores del Chaco stadium in Asuncion before some 35,000 spectators.
The goals for Paraguay were scored by Dario Lezcano and Edgar Benitez, at 39 and 48 minutes. Brazil came back to draw through striker Ricardo Oliveira in the 79th minute and Dani Alves at 90+2.
With this result, both teams are on 9 points and remain in sixth and seventh place in the standings, behind Uruguay (13), Ecuador (13), Argentina (11), Chile (10) and Colombia (10).
In the next round, September 1, Paraguay is at home against Chile and Brazil will visit Ecuador.
