With 13 points, Corinthians gets the first ticket to the next round from Group 2, while the vital victory achieved by Sao Paulo on Wednesday against Danubio (2-1) leaves them second with 9 points. In third place is San Lorenzo with 7 points.
Which club makes it to the next stage will be decide in a thrilling final round. To advance Sao Paulo will have to get at least a point in the Paulista derby against Corinthians next Wednesday. At the same time, the Argentines need to run up the score on Danubio in Buenos Aires and pray that Sao Paulo falls to the leader.
