Tabarez also has two other pillars on his team, striker Edinson Cavani (Paris St Germain, France) and goalkeeper Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray, Turkey), according to the list given Saturday by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF).
Of the preliminary call-up, 27 players, announced on May 11, the following players were cut: Camilo Mayada (River Plate, Argentina), Walter Gargano (Napoli, Italy), defenders Matias Aguirregaray (Estudiantes, Argentina) and Emiliano Velázquez (Getafe, Spain).
According to the statement, part of the squad will begin workouts on Monday in the Celeste Complex, on the outskirts of Montevideo, as other players will join them as they complete their participation in the different leagues with their teams.
Uruguay is planning a friendly against Guatemala on June 6 in Montevideo, a week before their debut in the tournament against Jamaica on June 13 in Antofagasta in Group B.
The Uruguayan team will then go up against Argentina, the 16th, and ends the first round with Paraguay on June 20.
