U-20 World Cup: Brazil defeats Portugal in penalty shootout (3-1), and advances to the semifinal

Brazil defeated Portugal 3-1 in penalty shootout after a scoreless draw, which qualifies them for the semifinal on Sunday in Hamilton for the 12th time in FIFA's U-20 World Cup history.

In a very similar game against Uruguay during the second round, the Brazilians won through penalties thanks to the accurate shots from Andreas Pereira, Danilo, and Gabriel Jesus.

Brazilian goalkeeper Jean stop cold the shot by Raphael Guzzo and then André Silva and Nuno Santos missed their shots wide.  Lucao also had failed for Brazil and Rony Lopes did scored for Europeans.

Brazil will now play on June 20th in Auckland against Senegal, who on Sunday won 1-0 against Uzbekistan.

The Brazilians, a five time world champion, is in search of their sixth title which would place them at the all time top, along with Argentina.  The win extended Brazil's dominance against the Portuguese, whom they have defeated twice, draw once and lost another.
