The Women’s National Team of Ecuador draws Trinidad and Tobago

Ecuador’s women will be playing with the 2015 World Cup on the line after a goalless draw at the Olimpico Atahualpa stadium in the first leg of the playoff against the Central America team.

The match was intense for the full 90 minutes. Ecuador, led by Ligia Moreira, had a nose for the goal since the start but the defensive approach of Trinidad and Tobago prevented them from getting on the board.

In the second half Arauz Vanessa sent on Monica Quinteros in place of Margarita Barre. The change gave more depth and speed up front which dominated the proceedings.

However, goalkeeper Forbes was the savior of Trinidad and Tobago, which was dedicated to play on the counterattack. Ecuador basically had their defensive line in midfield.

The return leg will be played on December 2 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Teams:

Ecuador: Shirley Berruz; Kerly Real, Lorena Aguilar, Ligia Moreira, Angie Ponce; Adriana Barre (Mónica Quinteros), Andrea Pesántez, Madeline Riera (Erika Vásquez), Ingrid Rodríguez, Ambar Torres; Gianina Lattanzio.
Coach: Vanessa Arauz.

Trinidad y Tobago: Kimika Forbes; Rhea Belgrave, Arin King, Patrice Superville, Maylee Attin Jhonson; Karyn Forbes, Lauryn Hutchinson (Russell), Janine Francois (Mascall), Ahkeela Mollon, Mariah Shade (Stoulis), Kennya Cordner.
Coach: Randy Waldrum.
