Colombian club Independiente Santa Fe is champion of the 2015 Copa Sudamericana after defeating Huracán of Argentina 3-1 in a shootout (0-0 after 120 minutes) in the second leg of the final played on Wednesday in the El Campin Stadium in Bogota.
The first leg played in Buenos Aires had also ended in a 0-0 draw. In this match it would go 120 minutes with no one taking the lead. In the shootout it was Independiente that was more precise from the spot getting goals from Argentine Omar Perez, Venezuelan Luis Seijas and Leyvin Balanda.
It is the first international title for Santa Fe in the 74 years of its history. Their previous best finishes were second place in the 1996 Copa Conmebol and the 1999 Copa Merconorte.
