The president of club Juan Aurich of Chiclayo beat out Mr. Federico Cuneo by 21 votes to 14, as reported to conmebol.com by Mr. Enrique Mayor Ocharán, who said the elections were smooth, fully fulfilling the statutes of the FPF.
Mr. Oviedo, a businessman from the sugar industry in Chiclayo, has held the presidency of club Juan Aurich since 2009. During that time the club won two titles and participated in the Copa Libertadores.
The election process involved 12 First Division clubs and 25 interdepartmental leagues.
Mr. Oviedo will take office on January 5, 2015 from Manuel Burga Seoane, who held the presidency for 12 years.
