The AFA confirmed that the 'Albiceleste' will play three friendly games after the Copa America in June in the United States and before the start of the Olympic Games in Rio. Gerardo Martino will coach the team.

The 'Albiceleste' will play Colomiba on July 20 in Miami and four days later in the same city will clash with Haiti. The tour will conclude on July 28 with a game in Mexico City against the 'Tri'.

The Argentine coaching staff presented on April 27 a preliminary list of 57 players for the competition to be held between August 3 and 19 in Brazil. On June 1 Martino will reduce the initial list to 35 players. Before July 14 the squad will be trimmed to the final 18 players.

According to the rules determined by FIFA and the International Olympic Committee, the final roster will consist of 15 players under the age of 23 and three with no age limit.

Argentina was paired in Group D with Honduras, Algeria and Portugal.

The team's debut will be on August 4 against Portugal at the Olimpico Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. On the 7th they will face Algeria and three days later they will close out the round against Honduras in Belo Horizonte.
