CONCACAF and CONMEBOL Assistant Referees Seminar

In the Copa America Hall in the Bourbon Hotel in Luque, Paraguay, the CONMEBOL and CONCACAF Assistant Referees Seminar, for candidates for the 2018 World Cup, has begun.

In the beginning of the seminar, via Skype, words of welcome were heard from the Director of Arbitration of FIFA, Mr. Massimo Busacca: "welcome to all the referees, trainers and members of FIFA President Mr. Gianni Infantino. This is a very important day for us all. Thank you very much CONMEBOL for the possibility of organizing these seminars. Thanks for the cooperation and work together with FIFA so that this course will be a great success with great results."

Francisco Brítez Figueredo, CONMEBOL Executive Secretary, welcomed all participants on behalf of the President of the South American Football Confederation, Alejandro Dominguez W-S: "In his name, I give the warmest welcome to all participants of this course. May the development of this course be profitable for all of you, so that the arbitration in your countries and your Confederations in the next 2018 World Cup will be top-notch."

Dr. Carlos Alarcon, President of the Referee's Commission of CONMEBOL said "we are trying to make things better and better, while recognizing that the role of the assistant referee is very difficult. They need to concentrate and constantly work to be get better. I congratulate you for the effort and please continue down this road of responsibility and hard work."

The seminar will run until Friday, May 13. Taking part in the seminar are: Manuel Navarro, Deputy Head of FIFA Refereeing; Luis Blecher, Chief Financial Officer of the CSF; Gonzalo Belloso, Development Director of the Confederation; members of the Referees Commission of the Confederation, Mr. Jorge Larrionda, Wilson Seneme, Mr. Miguel Scime and Oscar Julian Ruiz and from CONCACAF, Hector Vergara; Amelio Andino, President of the Referees Commission of the Paraguayan Football Association.

In this seminar practical, theoretical and physical activities will be included. The latter will include physical resistance 75/25m with 15x18 seconds, 10 laps; and ARIET speed test (additional test) with 16_3.
