CONMEBOL has reaffirmed that Mineirao stadium will be the site of the second game between Atlético Mineiro and Olimpia

In a letter directed to Mr. José María Marín, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation and signed by Mr. Eugenio Figueredo, president of the South American Football Confederation, CONMEBOL has indicated the official capacity of Defensores del Chaco stadium, leaving no room for doubt.

In second place, it has been reaffirmed that the site of the second game between Atlético Mineiro and Olimpia will be Mineirao stadium.

The letter sent by Mr. Figueredo to Mr. Marín, president of the CBF, follows:

Mr.Jose Maria Marín

President of the Brazilian Football Confederation

Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Ref.: Final Games of Copa Bridgestone Libertadores 2013

Esteemed President and friend,

The following is in reference to your memo from the day before yesterday, which mentions the final games of Copa Bridgestone LIbertadores de America, and the stadiums whre the games will be played, between the teams Olimpia, of Paraguay, and Atl. Mineiero, of Brazil.

With respect to this issue we would like to communicate taht according to the information available in CONMEBOL, which we received from the Paraguayan Football Association, that Defensores del Chaco stadium allows space for 40,759 spectators, distributed according to the letter attached to this memo, and thus being adecuate for the regulatory rules for a final game.

It is worth reiterating that Defensores del Chaco stadium has been a host site in various occasions for final games in this tournament and also has hosted elimination games for the FIFA World Cup.

With respect to the reason that CONMEBOL has determined that the second game be played in Mineirao stadium and not in Independencia Arena, it is simply because the aforementioned stadium complies with the requirements established by the regulations (Art 9.4) with respect to capacity for a final game (40,000 people), in comparison to the smaller capacity of Arena Independencia stadium (23,000 people).

It is hoped that one can understand, that the institutional position that we are cultivating is tied to our current regulations and even more importantly, with the goal of amking the most imortant event in the the most important CONMEBOL tournament even more brilliant and noteworthy.

With the same appreciation as always,

Eugenio Figueredo

President
