This Friday Luis Chiriboga, president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, announced that Ecuador will play a friendly match with Spain, reigning World Cup and Euro Cup champions, in Guayaquil on August 14th.
The president confirmed that the match, a scheduled FIFA date, will be played in club Barcelona's Monumental stadium that capacity for some 60,000 people.
Quito newspaper El Comercio indicated that this friendly match will cost Ecuador more than two million dollars.
This past February 6th Ecuador got an historic win (3-2) over Portugal in a friendly played in the Portuguese town of Guimaraes.
Ecuador are in second place with 17 points in the South American qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. They are 3 points behind leader Argentina and have 1 more than Colombia.
Next March the Ecuadorians will welcome Paraguay to Quito for a 12th round game.
