Suruga Cup remains elusive: Kashiwa beats Lanus 2-1

Kashiwa Reysol won the Suruga Bank Cup by beating Lanús of Argentina 2-1.

With this victory, the Japanese continue their series of conquests, considering that the last four editions were won by teams from the Japanese Professional League.

The match was played at the host’s Hitachi Soccer Stadium which showed its force at appropriate times.

The goals for the local team were scored by Kaoru Takayama (44 minutes) and at a minute from the end of the final, Brazilian striker Leandro scored 2-1. Leandro Somoza scored for Lanús (55).
