The Chilean team trained on Monday in Belo Horizonte without Arturo Vidal, who just watched practice. Chile debuts in four days against Australia in Group B.

The Juventus midfielder appeared to be walking without serious problems, just giving a salute to about a hundred journalists who came to observe the training of «La Roja».

Examinations on Saturday showed Vidal had swelling in his right knee which was operated on May 7.

After surgery, the Chilean rehabbed the knee and played 15 minutes in Chile’s last friendly against Northern Ireland, much to the surprise of the Chilean and international press.

However, this inflammation is likely to leave him out of his team’s match against Australia on June 13 in Cuiabá. Since arriving with the Chilean team last Thursday Vidal has not trained with his teammates.

After entering one of the fields of the sports complex, owned by club Cruzeiro, Vidal began to talk with coach Jorge Sampaoli and assistant Sebastian Becaccece and then kicked the ball with his left leg.

The 28-year-old sat on a bench covered for protection from the hot sun, and during the 15 minutes the media were allowed to be there he did not join his teammates.

The rest of the squad practiced including Alexis Sanchez, who exhibited some discomfort in the shoulder but trained normally.

After the practice, players Gonzalo Jara and Marcelo Díazgive will give a press conference.

Chile is seeded in Group B with Spain, the Netherlands and Australia.
