Development Directors approve license project for coaches

The study centers on the continent should unify the criteria of education for coaches. There will be four types of identity cards: A, B, Pro and Honorific to be handed out at one time at the beginning of the implementation of the system.

With the intention to rank football coaches on the continent, the Development Directors of the Member Associations of CONMEBOL approved a regulation to unify coaches' licenses, which will be presented for consideration by the presidents for final approval at the EC meeting to be held in Mexico in May.

The goal is to update and unify the curricula. "It is a regulation for the study centers on the continent to be governed, to unify the criteria of education of the coaches," said the Development Director of the agency, Gonzalo Belloso, to conmebol.com.

After four years of intensive work of the Development Directors of the organization, renowned rectors of training centers and prestigious coaches, the construction phase of the regulation came to an end and is now up for approval.

Development Directors of the continent, with the support of FIFA development officers, after two days of intense meetings and evaluations (for clarifications, corrections and modifications) unanimously approved a document with the signature of all and approved by the General Manager of CONMEBOL, Gorka Villar and the Development Director of CONMEBOL, Gonzalo Belloso.

Approval

Coaches who are active in the region can approve their licenses. "All identity cards and coaching courses that professionals have done so far we will surely approve after unifying the criteria," said Belloso.

In the second instance agreements with the various confederations worldwide will try to be made so that coaches, licensed by CONMEBOL, can work throughout the world.

The goal is that from 2017 Member Associations that meet the requirements can begin the process and implement the licensing system to be completed in all countries of the region and for 2019 licensed professional graduate after three years of studies under a single criterion. The aim is that from 2020 the entire continent has the CONMEBOL coaches' license.

"There will be four types of identity cards: A, B, Pro and Honorific to be handed out at one time at the beginning of the implementation of the system to the coaches with 60 years of age and 50 points awarded, with a system established by sporting merit," concluded Gonzalo Belloso.
