The South American Football Confederation is made up of ten national federations (or associations). All of which are represented in the different organs of our entity, with the main instance being the Congress, which sessions ordinarily every two years. The ten affiliates are on an equal and balanced plane among themselves and make up the Executive Committee of the Confederation.
The Argentine, Chilean, Uruguayan and Brazilian associations are the first four in the continent and are founding members of CONMEBOL. The Argentine Football Association, founded in 1893, is the eighth entity of its kind in the world and the oldest in the continent.
Although it is the Confederation with the fewest number of associates, CONMEBOL treasures 9 World Cups, and 7 juvenile World Cups, besides other significant victories at both the national team and club levels.
In nine of the ten countries that make up CONMEBOL, football is the number one sport. Eight associations have at some time participated in the World Cup and the ten have organized important continental competitions, such as the America Cup or the South American Youth Championship.
Uruguay had the responsibility and honor of having been host to the first World Cup, the greatest universal football meet, that Brazil, Chile and Argentina have also hosted.
Its ten member National Associations are the maximum pride of CONMEBOL.
