Luque, Paraguay – July 19th 2019. Yesterday, the President of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, met the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Chile, Pauline Kantor, at the house of South American football, to review different issues about the organization of the first single final of CONMEBOL Libertadores 2019, to be held on November 23rd at the National Stadium of Santiago de Chile.
The meeting was also attended by Sebastián Moreno, President of the Football Federation of Chile (ANFP); Leopoldo Iturra, Corporate Affairs Manager of ANFP; José Tomás de Gregorio, International Relations Officer of the Ministry of Sports of Chile; José Astigarraga, General Secretary of CONMEBOL; and Frederico Nantes, Director of Club Competitions of CONMEBOL. Among the points discussed during the meeting were the security, renovation of the stadium, the location and concept of the Fan Fest.
President Domínguez thanked Minister Kantor for her visit at the CONMEBOL headquarters, understanding that this was a preliminary coordination meeting for the first CONMEBOL Libertadores one and only Final and, in that sense, pointed out the importance of «taking all necessary measures so that this event will be remembered as a great success in the history of South American soccer».
For her part, Minister Kantor said that «work is being done on all aspects, security, logistics, events and, very especially, on the adaptation of the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile, the setting for the great CONMEBOL Libertadores one and only Final”.
The president of the ANFP, Sebastián Moreno, commented that «the purpose of the meeting was to agree in all aspects so that, in addition to having an unprecedented final, it will become a great celebration for football fans, it will be extended and the whole country will be part of this continental event».
With almost 100 days to go, all the institutions and bodies of the Chilean state, as well as CONMEBOL and the Football Federation of Chile, are promoting and supporting the logistics, taking all the necessary measures to make the first one and only final in the history of continental football a success both at the sporting and organizational level.
