Copa América Brasil 2019 overcomes in the first week of the games the average of Copa América Chile 2015 spectators

  • The oldest selections championship in the world attracts a growing interest of fans surpassing in this new edition, only in the first week of the games, the average of Chile 2015 spectators in 15,3%.
  • In the first 8 matches of CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019, was recorded an average of 29,500 spectators on the stadiums, while the total average of Chile 2015 spectators was 25,000, including the impact of the tournament final.
  • The inaugural Brazil-Bolivia match represented an absolute record of collection in the country with over 22 million Reais, surpassing the match of Brazil-Chile on October 2017 in the knockout phase for the 2018 Russia World Cup.

The CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019 already points to a historic edition of the championship. In just the first week of the games, with a total of 8 matches played, already exceeds by 15.3% the average number of spectators of Copa América Chile 2015, the previous comparable edition by format. In this way, the stadiums of the five host cities of the tournament registered an average of 29,500 spectators, compared to the average of 25,000 spectators in Chile 2015, the last one estimated on the total championship, and therefore already including semifinal phases and the final, meetings that drive the overall calculation of the tournament.

In relation of the opening match on June 14th, last Friday, played between Brazil and Bolivia at the Morumbi Stadium, it should be noted that the meeting recorded an absolute record of collection in the «carioca’s country» reached more than 22 million Reais, thus displacing the party that until now held that leadership, the Brazil-Chile of October 2017 in the knockout phase for the World Cup in Russia 2018 with 15 million Reais.

«These are numbers that encourage us to continue taking South American football to more and more fans. We have no doubt that this will be a historic edition of the championship and the numbers are beginning to point in this direction,» says Hugo Figueredo, Director of Selections Competitions of CONMEBOL.

In this way, Copa América faces the second round of the group phase with an eye on a continent that has begun to vibrate with their football and which await great moments of glory and games for the history of the championship and all continental football.
