- The President of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, requested a coordinated effort between the different institutions of the country to show the capacity of Paraguay and all South American soccer to organize top-level sporting events.
- The meeting was also attended by the Vice President of the Cerro Porteño Club, owner of the stadium, Juan José Zapag, who thanked the opportunity offered to present his stadium internationally and was confident that the event will honor “the name of the Club, Paraguay and of all South American soccer.”
- The different organizations and institutions present at the meeting showed their commitment to make Asunción a great soccer celebration for citizens, fans and visitors.
Luque, Paraguay – July 12, 2019. CONMEBOL promoted the organization of the first single game Final in the history of the institution, which will be held on November 9 at the stadium of “La Nueva Olla” in Asunción, by calling a general coordination meeting of all institutions and Paraguayan organizations involved.
During the meeting, held at the CONMEBOL headquarters, the organization appointed working tables and discussed the security, logistics, the organization device, as well as the activities and attractions that the city will offer throughout the week to citizens and fans visiting the Paraguayan capital.
The president of the Confederation, Alejandro Domínguez, requested, in the meeting, an effort of all those present to turn Asunción into a “true celebration that projects an image of excellence of the country and of all South American soccer in the organization of top-level sporting events as is the Single Game Final of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2019 ”. Dominguez also added that this first Single Game Final is also “an exercise to show the world that we are in a position to organize larger events such as the 2030 Soccer World Cup, a bid that is being managed by Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.”
the Secretary General of CONMEBOL, José Astigarraga, reinforced the message of the President assuring that “Paraguay will be in display” and added that “the stadium will be full with 40,000 spectators ” as expected for this historic meeting .
