A Confederação Sul-Americana de Futebol (CSF) não está de acordo com a decisão de suspender provisoriamente todas as atividades relacionadas com o futebol ao candidato à presidência da FIFA, Michel Platini.
É imperativo que a justiça esportiva siga seu curso com a finalidade de esclarecer imediata e permanentemente todos os fatos. Porém, ao mesmo tempo, a presunção de inocência é um direito fundamental que deve ser considerado. O Sr. Platini não foi condenado por nenhuma acusação portanto sua suspensão provisória ameaça a integridade do processo eleitoral para a presidência da FIFA da qual participa como candidato. Por este motivo o parecer da CSF é que a suspensão é desproporcionada e prematura.
A CSF pede a reconsideração da suspensão provisória imposta ao senhor Platini e que lhe seja permitido, sem pôr em causa os seus direitos como postulante, continuando sua candidatura à presidência da FIFA com todas as garantias.
Nestes tempos difíceis que exigem uma reforma integral da FIFA, a CSF acredita firmemente na capacidade do Sr. Platini em dirigir a FIFA e guiar o mundo do futebol rumo a um futuro mais brilhante.
Enquanto continuem as investigações e até que existam razões claramente acreditadas para modificá-la, o expressado constitui a posição da CSF.
The Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CSF) does not agree with the decision provisionally banning FIFA presidential candidate Mr. Michel Platini from all football-related activities.
It is imperative that sporting justice continues its course in order to clarify all of the facts as soon and definitely as possible. At the same time the presumption of innocence is a fundamental right that has to be considered. Mr. Platini has not been found guilty of any charge, therefore the provisional ban jeopardizes the integrity of the electoral process to the FIFA presidency, of which Mr. Platini is a candidate. The CSF, considering the above, believes that the ban is untimely and disproportionate.
The CSF urges that the provisional ban imposed upon Mr. Platini be reconsidered, and that Mr. Platini be allowed, with full guarantees and without impairing his rights, to continue as FIFA presidential candidate.
These are trying times that demand an integral reform of FIFA. The CSF fully believes in Mr. Platini’s capacity to lead FIFA and the football world towards a brighter future.
While the investigations remain ongoing, and until there are clearly proven reasons to modify it, the above constitutes CSF’s position.
