Argentinian club Tigre beat Venezuelan club Deportivo Anzoátegui 2-1 on Tuesday night in their first leg game in the first round of the Copa Libertadores. The game was played at Tigre stadium.
Gabriel Peñalba (65) and Leandro Leguizamón (75) scored the two goals for Tigre. Jeremías Caggiano (37) scored for Anzoátegui. Anzoátegui are hoping to continue their playoff hopes in group play on January 29 in Puerto La Cruz.
The winner of this stage will be placed in group 2 for the second stage where Sporting Cristal (Peru), Palmeiras (Brazil) and Libertad (Paraguay) will be waiting for them
In an intense and entertaining match, Anzoátegui managed to take the lead showing purpose and generating many scoring chances but they weren’t quite able to contain a Tigre team that on this night wouldn’t be stopped. Tigre won by the slightest of margins and will have their work cut out for them in the rematch.
