Argentina, already qualified for the World Cup Brazil-2014, will change things up for their match against Uruguay on Tuesday at the Centennial.
Even with a ticket to Brazil in pocket, coach Alejandro Sabella said that “we will always go out to win. We have a responsibility towards our country and the people.”
Argentina has many players injured including Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona, Spain), Javier Mascherano (FC Barcelona), Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli, Italy) and Fernando Gago (Boca Juniors). It didn’t matter on Friday night as Argentina easily defeated Peru 3-1.
However, to avoid injury, yellow cards or expulsions Sabella could give minutes to others who are struggling to earn a place on the team.
One possible change could be in goal where Sergio Romero (Monaco, France) gave up a soft goal to Claudio Pizarro and Mariano Andujar (Catania, Italy) and Agustin Orion (Boca) are both playing well and waiting for their opportunity.
In midfield, one option is to give more minutes to Ever Banega (Valencia, Spain) and Lucas Biglia (Lazio, Italy) as well as Leandro Somoza (Lanús) and Maxi Rodriguez (Newell‘s Old Boys). In the attack we will see if Sabella debuts young Mauro Icardi (Inter, Italy).
