Mexico: Chicharito Hernández‏ is called up to the national team

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera called up on Monday striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, who scored two goals for Real Madrid this weekend, for the friendly matches against Honduras and Panama in October.

Herrera released the list of five players who play abroad. The list is highlighted by the omission of Atletico Madrid striker Raul Jimenez, who played at the 2014 World Cup.

In addition to Hernandez, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa (Málaga, Spain), midfielders Javier Aquino (Rayo Vallecano, Spain) and Hector Herrera (Porto, Portugal), as well as young striker Erick Torres (Chivas USA, United States) were also called up.

‘Chicharito’ was not included in the list of past friendlies in early September against Chile (0-0) and Bolivia (1-0), which was announced by Herrera while the striker was leaving Manchester United.

Hernandez, 26, is coming off a two goal performance on Saturday in Real Madrid’s 8-2 win against Deportivo La Coruña.

Mexico will face Honduras on October 12 at the Victor Manuel Reyna Stadium in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez (southeast). The match against Panama will be played at the Corregidora stadium in Queretaro (center).

Before the end of 2014, the Tri also undertake a European tour with friendlies against Holland, who knocked them out in the second round of the WC, on November 12 in Amsterdam and against Belarus on November 18 in Borisov.
