Paulo César de Oliveira ends his career as a referee

On Tuesday May 27th FIFA referee Paulo Cesar de Oliveira, accompanied by president elect of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Marco Polo Del Nero, visited the CBF headquarters to thank and inform president José Marín that he was retiring as a referee.

Considered one of the top referees in Brazil, Paulo Cesar took stock of his career as a referee and highlighted the fact that he refereed the friendly match between Brazil and Haiti in August 2004.

It has been a good career, where I got to conquer everything I dreamed about. I started in 1996 and reached the First Division, permanently, in 1997. In 1999 I went international. I spent all this time representing arbitration as a FIFA referee,” he said in an interview with the FPF website.

Born in Cruzeiro, in São Paulo, Paulo Cesar de Oliveira was part of São Paulo and the national picture in the last 20 years. As a referee, he called state, Libertadores and international games.

In Brazilian football he called 327 national matches, 270 in Serie A, 23 games in Serie B, two in C, 1 in D, and 31 in the Brazilian Cup.
