Colombian striker Luis Perea, on club Universidad San Martin, was the best foreign player in the ninth round of the Peruvian championship which was played between Thursday and Sunday, scoring a hat-trick in the win over UTC Cajamarca.
The striker scored his goals at 24, 45 and 53 minutes in the game on Saturday, sealing the 4-0 win over UTC.
«This win is very important because it helps us get into fight for the title, and I hope to keep scoring,» the 27 year old told reporters.
The Colombian striker is the son of ex-player Luis Carlos Perea.
Perea previously played for Deportivo Quito in Ecuador and Everton of Chile in 2011. He then debuted for in his country in the first division with Atletico Nacional and Medellin.
Club Inti Gas leads the Peru Apertura with 18 points followed by Juan Aurich, Melgar and César Vallejo with 17 points.
Other foreign players that stood out in the ninth round of the tournament were Uruguayan midfielders Gabriel Costa and Pablo Miguez of club Alianza Lima.
Costa and Miguez scored the first and third goal in their clubs tough 3-2 win over Sport Huancayo in the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium in Lima.
